I filed for Agent Orange exposure ten years ago and was denied. I'm a Blue Water Navy veteran. If the present decision stands that Blue Water veterans will be compensated, will I be paid from date and year I filed my claim?

A1:  Probably not. I believe the requirement is that you contest the denial within the time span allotted (two years, now one year in some cases). That would mean you're simply refiling the same claim and it could be backdated. Once you pass the allotted time your claim is considered as a NEW claim and that will be the effective date for compensation award. Since the Blue Water considerations have just be revised, you should read over the new limits carefully.  (GC)  2/2/19
